Welcome to 20s Plenty for Kingston upon Thames
Our aim is for the borough of Kingston to have a 20mph default speed limit where people live, without the need for extensive additional traffic calming.
Why? A reduction in risk to walkers and cyclists. Also more walking and cycling, less pollution, less noise, less fear and a better quality of life.
Kingston had the first 20mph zone in London created in January 1991 - the Groves area of New Malden - including Lime Grove, Beech Grove, Chestnut Grove, Sycamore Grove, Poplar Grove, Acacia Grove and Beaconsfield Road. Since then many other 20 mph zones and limits have been created but there is little consistency between neighbourhoods.
We are a local group of 20's plenty for Us, the national vountary organisation that supports communities who want lower speed limits on their streets
